Billionaire Dick Pratt vows to fight
BILLIONAIRE Dick Pratt has vowed a vigorous fight against charges that could see him jailed over claims he lied about a price-fixing scandal. The cardboard king yesterday stepped aside as Carlton president, withdrew from his arts and charity roles and retreated behind the high walls of his Kew mansion, the Herald Sun reports. The 73-year-old father of four, who is worth $5.48 billion, did not speak publicly but his lawyer, Leon Zwier, said: "Mr Pratt will vigorously defend himself. "His wife, Jeanne, and their family are shocked by this new ACCC proceeding," Mr Zwier said. He said that Mr Pratt had been denied a fair go by the corporate watchdog and claimed a deal to finalise the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's price-fixing case against Visy had been breached. The statement attacked ACCC boss Graeme Samuel. |
